Envirotrade
Envirotrade has developed a business model using the sale of carbon offsets to support the conservation and management of existing forests and the planting of new ones. It is a means through which concerned businesses and individuals can link up with forest farmers in developing countries to change the way in which we use natural resources and impact on our environment offering a new way of life for individuals, forest communities, and the natural environment. The money that project communities in Mozambique earn from CO2 offset sales through their Carbon Livelihoods Programme allows them to make the switch from ‘slash-and-burn' agriculture to sustainable food production.
Trading Emissions
Trading Emissions PLC (TEP) raised £310m on AIM of the London Stock Exchange with the goal of acquiring a portfolio of carbon credits at appropriate prices from projects in emerging markets and making related investments. With a global portfolio of contracts for delivery of over 50m carbon credits and with more than £100m of related investments, TEP has begun to commercialise its portfolio with a goal of realising maximum value for its assets. TEP acquires carbon credits directly from projects and also provides debt and equity finance to projects and companies that will generate credits or be positively exposed to the carbon market.
